Mike's Take on the Camino

Next week I am embarking with my good friend, Dave Anderson, on a 500-mile journey across Spain. We will walk from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela, where the relics of St. James, an original apostle of Jesus Christ, are said to have been discovered in 800 AD. We plan to complete this pilgrimage by June 26th. Along the way, we hope to enjoy historical treasures and gain personal insights. We also hope to inspire your support in fighting the growing mental health crisis in our country.

Dave and I are raising funds for the following organizations: Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, Hope4Utah, and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Santa Clara County. These three groups have been (and continue to be) instrumental in helping our loved ones or dear friends overcome challenges. We know their services make a difference, because we have seen the results. Please help us help them. Lives can be saved and futures changed.

Donations will be accepted though our fundraising page at YouCaring, and we would greatly appreciate any support you can give. All money received there will go directly to these organizations. We are also grateful for a wonderful friend, whose corporation is going to match the first $10,000 we raise.

Over the next two months, we will update you on a regular basis about our Camino de Santiago experience. We will also provide brief articles and testimonials about challenges met and successes attained by these organizations and the people they serve.

Most everyone has friends or family who suffer from depression, suicidal thoughts, or other mental health concerns. The problems are universal, and no one is immune. Please help us raise awareness and hopefully touch someone's heart and life for good. Passing this on to your friends and family could make all the difference in the world.

Thanks.

Mike
